Fear: a four card spread
Here’s a spread from my practice this morning that I wanted to share with you all today, in case it might be as pertinent to your life as it is to mine!
a fear that relentlessly drives me
what the fear prevents me from experiencing
the truth it prohibits me from seeing
what I can do to begin loosening its grip on me
Your pulls will likely not be a surprise (are they ever, really?), but still: it’s helpful to lay our ‘stuff’ out on the table, isn’t it? Here’s what haunts me, in one pretty little picture. It becomes a little more approachable, digestible.
My pull was all about money, baby! Oh, the fear of ‘enough’. It is such a hungry fear, demanding endless labor to feed. I am wrestling with it so hard, which means wrestling with the entirety of our fucking culture, doesn’t it? That’s one of the reasons the Devil and the Hierophant look so similar in the RWS deck, imo. Because to confront our own fears means to confront the whole system in which they grow and thrive.
Anyway, I’d love to hear about your pulls if you’d like to share! And a reminder: next Tarot Study Hall is Sunday the 5th of July at 6 PM Central time. Paid subscribers will get the Zoom link, and it’s always a fun time. There are some DELIGHTFUL people who join regularly: I really think y’all are a joy. So if you haven’t popped in, I encourage it. You’ll have some faith in humanity restored, and you’ll learn a lot by practicing in community.

You were right about the pulls not being surprising. Once again my cards have read me to filth! My fear is The Fool, which is such a great encapsulation of the core of my fears. Wanting to do everything the "right" way, wanting control, etc. Can you tell I'm an Enneagram 1?
