Tarot + Your Chart
fun!
Today is my youngest’s twelfth birthday, which inspired me to pull cards for her birth chart. Have you ever done this with yours? It’s a really fun way to engage with your chart, especially if you-like me-know more about the language of the Tarot than astrology.
There are lots of ways to use the two systems together. One way is to pull out the Majors or court cards that correspond to whatever placement you’re looking at. Like: you’re a Pisces sun, so you pull out the Moon and Knight of Cups and meditate on those for a while. Or, you have Venus in Libra, so you could pull out Empress (for Venus) and Justice and Queen of Swords (for Libra) and mull over that combo and how you embody those energies in your life, especially when it comes to matters of love (since Venus has a lot to say about love in our lives!).
You may have placements that correspond directly to a minor card. For example, your natal Mars is in Aries? That’s 2 of Wands. How do you relate to that card particularly?
Or, you pick out a placement and just shuffle and pull a card for it. What card best represents my Mercury in Capricorn, say? Or what card best represents my stellium in Virgo, or my Venus-Mars conjunction, or my grand water trine? My 3rd house Sun? Whatever! (those are not my placements btw, save one!)
So, for example, a few pulls I did for my birthday girl’s chart today:
She has Uranus exactly on her ascendant. I drew Queen of Wands for that, which is really apt because, she’s an Aries rising—and Queen of Wands is Aries. So, I think this says that Uranus there just really dials up that energy for her, and also is a key ingredient in her creativity and desire to self-express. She can be nothing but herself.
For her 8th house moon, I drew 7 of Swords. This made me laugh, because y’all, I didn’t look at this kid’s chart til she was like, 8 or 9, and learning she had an 8th house Scorpio moon was such a relief. I was like: oh, that’s why she’s like this! When she’s trying to escape and hide out and wants everyone to leave her the fuck alone, she’s actually honoring that moon. So 7 of Swords makes sense. She also loves secrets, they’re like her love language.
For her 11th house sun, I drew 5 of Wands and 5 of Swords. 11th house is friendships, networks, etc. This kiddo thrives in friendship and is really popular at school, and then she needs so much alone time to decompress. Probably that interplay of the privacy seeking moon with the social sun. So these 5s and their tension seem to highlight that.
Anyway, I just wanted to offer this up as a fun little exercise for a cold weekend. See if pulling cards for your chart unlocks something for you! I’d love to hear about it if you do, any insights you might have—or questions, too! I’m always available for that.

Both of my kids have Scorpio moons. The one with the same rising sign as me has been much easier to understand than the one with the moon in the second house. I’ll have to pull some cards for that. Thanks for the idea!
Secrets as a love language! Love this.
